[COLOR=333333]Hi peeps! The thirteen eggs i put in my mini adv. started to hatch Tuesday night. Out of the thirteen eggs that went in 9 hatched. 2 were from a new layer and weren't even fertile so tectonically 9 out of 11 hatched. Is anyone wanting a Silkier or a Sizzle chick? Three of them have giant domes. There is a really neat one that is white color with black stripes on its back, this is a first for me. My parts came in for my DIY incubator but i still did not get it finished for the New Years hatch along so i improvised. I ordered a 12 dc incukit to use for a brooder but in the last moments i gr[/COLOR] [COLOR=333333]abed a medical cool or and used it as a incubator. I have never tried to build an incubator and hope i get A good hatch rate out of these. Temps are staying at 99.5 and only varying +-.5 degree.I'm just not sure about the humidity so i am going to wing it. Every persons answer is different.[/COLOR][COLOR=B42000] [/COLOR]

Kinda off subject but if anyone in WV that's has americauanas or olive eggers I'm interested in a dozen for the Easter HAL.

I'm looking for Ameraucanas I'm WV (or someone willing to ship chicks to WV) too!!

I got my eggs set at 12 PM on the nose. All from my eggs. (I think I should call them shipped eggs . It almost took a boat to collect the last 2 eggs today here in California. LOL) My hens refuse to come in out of the rain they all look like drowned rats. The turkey are roosting on the 6 foot chain link fence. They all have houses to go in to but wont. It is been rain for hours. Happy Hatching to everyone. eggs are from wheaten ameruacana hen/amerucana roo but they ran loose in the day time nake neck hen/golden brahma rooster penned up cuckoo maran hen and rooster penned up oh a wheaten maran hen/ amerucana roo but running loose in the day time ... so muts chicks Maybe 21 days Boy feeding is going to be fun in the morning water very where. Horse pasture flooding to...I know we need it !!!!!!!

Want to get rid of a few of the wheaten Ameraucana/Ameraucana crosses that hatch?

Omgosh! Finally set my eggs! Dh thought I was off my meds todayfor stressing over setting these eggs..so..he says looking at me sideways..How many chickens do you have now?? They're NOT CHICKENS!! and don't you tell everybody either!! I snapped back! He just chuckles and strolls over to the brooder to check on the silkies....66 eggs set. BBS pure ameraucana and assorted F1 easter eggers with a few F1 olive eggers

What is BBS?

I would like to nominate him for the "Most difficulties overcome to get eggs set on Dec 11th" award! You know, after such a contest is created, of course!

OK, I'll set some, except those that she scrubbed the color off of.

She did the same thing last NYD hatch, except that time I didn't know it until they were in the skillet.

So how does she really feel about you hatching more chicks? Ever wonder if she is sending you a message?

I thought I was done hatching for awhile.. but it looks like one of my hens has other ideas. I went out to the barn yesterday to find my silkie x cochin hen sitting on eggs. She has brooded for me before and she's definitely committed to hatching some more. I just looked at my calendar and noticed that her eggs will be due to hatch on new years day. I figured there must be a hatch-a-long for that, so here I am! I think she has about 8 eggs. I will have to confirm that whenever I happen to see her off the nest. Good luck to everyone else that's hatching!

Can't you just pick her up to get a quick count? That's what I usually do. Of course the girls get a bit miffed but a few new scars on my hands and wrists won't hurt anything.
