6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

Set the eggs in the Brinsea. Realize now that there's nothing to do. I walk into the incubator room and it's like "Why am I here?" Kind of like walking into a room and not remembering the reason.

Thanks, Brinsea, for making me feel senile!

I do the same thing!

I will need to remember to turn on the cool down cycle on day 8 though. Even that is automatic.

Ron,

I googled images of blue Australorps. Just flat-out CUTE! I recall seeing on eBay awhile back somebody had a lavender Australorp project going. Haven't seen him in a bit, though, otherwise I'd be bidding. It's those button-like eyes that get me....kind of like a feathered stuffed animal.

I like these because they have better red in the face. If all goes well, I might pick a nice blue cockeral and put him over my Hupp Australorps to see what I get.

I will also add a couple of the pullets from this hatch too though.

These are the official candling days. You will be looking for air cells to be a similar percentage of the egg on those days. Humidity is adjusted based on development.
Aweosme, i have been needing the official days for candling!!!

Ron do you pencil in where the airsac is before you set or as you go or both? Or at all?

I do if they are shipped and have odd air cells. I will place an x on the spot that I want tilted up when I set them into the egg cartons during lockdown. It is very cool to see them pip close to the x.

added: I mark the air cell to make sure the chick pips within the air cell. If not, then I have to consider helping because it may have pipped into a place that has liquid or into a vein.

Next question lol I'm going to hatch in a carton this time. How do you doctor it up or do you just leave it as it is. The part that the eggs set in that is.
