6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

I was so busy freaking out about chicken eggs that I forgot ducks lay eggs too.... She surprised me. And of course she wanted to go broody right away. We took a few at the beginning to taste them and they are delicious. I am excited for the hatch, I candled some today and they have all gone dark like they are supposed to.

I haven't done anything but eat one. I want to have more and bake and cook, so the plan is to keep 5 or 6 ducklings for ourselves, some to raise for the freezer and at least two hens, hopefully, so i can have eggs and a broody. We shall see, I bet they are all gonna want to brood. hahahahah.

edit to add, my mom is bugging me to supply her with them too, I gave her one to eat and she LOVES them.

quak!! man sure wish I had seen something in my wee wittle egg now it's gonna be even more torture until can candle em proper..... ohh and just cracked the mega egg for the cookies and Yep was a double yoker
