I haven't cheated so far on my original set but did look at the ones my daughter gave me to add to them. I may cheat today before it gets cold again. I'm supposed to candle tomorrow but have a dr appt so I will be gone most of the day and don't want to candle them at night when it is cold. I'm using Broody hens so exposing the eggs to the cold night air probably isn't the best idea.

i would go home and candle after work if i thought i would see anything. i have some darker eggs that look like light maran eggs that i cant even see thru on 3 of them.

Please let us know how it works for you once you have it running in the brooder. I'm very interested in replacing my heat lamps but I always want to know how things work before I buy them.

Great visual! My daughter just had her first dance recital (she's 3) and it was the hardest thing to get 9 little girls to stay in line while waiting for the stage...I picture something like that.

LOL! Exactly, now imagine doing that with baby chickens! Needless to say the dream had a bit of a nightmare element to it. lol

i want to get some really dark maran eggs to hatch out but i'm rather concerned i wont see jack in them lol. i also have East indies and cayuga duck eggs on the list, talk about asking for difficult lol.

X's, they are tough to.. read. Smell maybe, when they are bad.

I can't wait until they are old enough to wiggle with the water candling. How long do I have to wait to try that? I can't tell anything about the marans eggs!
