6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

Tonight for me was finally toss night. I candled again and was glad I waited as some I had no hope for look good! Out of 27, I tossed 10. This is great as had the humidity way up for other eggs hatching in it and it messed these eggs up. I was going to feel lucky if any of them hatched! So I am down to 17 now. Still happy!

I am going to try hatching in the same incubator as some other eggs. I didn't really think of the humidity messing up the other eggs, though. Hmmm.

Merry Christmas everyone just got home from a great family Christmas. We had spaghetti and meatballs, pizza, cheese bread, garlic bread, pepperoni stuffed with hot peppers, macaroni salad, green salad Lots of great food. Exchained presents.
chickens got a flake of alfalfa hay, turkeys got watermelon, chihuahua got fresh beef bones, horses got carrots . All is well in the Ginnings house.
I haven't candled my eggs and probably won't.. NO BAD ONES YET. Hatching day is close.
PS eating the chocolate covered cherries I got for Christmas. they are so yummy.......

Today is lock down for me!.. I have a still air incubator.. the question is. . How much should I lower the temperate?.. Right now I am keeping it to 102 degrees. . And the humidity I am going to try to keep it at 60-70?.. Is that right? .. first time doing this so am I am a bit nervous!!!!!

I personally go for about 100* and no more than 60%, but others have more exp than me. Good luck!!?

Now, here's my question.. As far as humidity during incubation (not lockdown), I generally don't even study it during the early days. I just concentrate on development and if something g looks amiss with the air sacs, I ... Well, it never has looked amiss, really.

SO. Fast forward to now.. I decided yesterday to move my little hygrometer from hatcher (not being used, just waiting) to bator.. And humidity is in the 20's.

So do I need to fiddle with that? If my air sacs look ok I'm good, right? I just feel like I should let them be but don't want to mess anything up in the long run..

Yeah. It's a still-air. I might get a fan kit, or maybe just save up for a nice incubator. I think the thermostat on this one might not work great. Like I said, it will be fine for 2 days, then there will be a temp spike.

I'd love to have the directions for that, just in case.

**also**.. Do I worry about how some eggs seem much more "full" than the others? I mean they all have great veins and movement.. Thanks
