It is a good silly!

Oh my word! I just went to check on the egg that was pipped..it's zipped! It will be out any second! Now what to do? I need to separate the older ones from this little one. I only have the one brooder. Used what I had at the first of the year for something else..DH is looking for some now. :/

Holding it in my lap until my DH makes the separation for the brooder. It's pretty, a blue and yellow, which will probably be white. I have it in a paper towel, still pretty wet. Didn't want it in there playing bowling with the other eggs.

I got to say I am confused over the whole first hatch thing is it all the chickens or just the first chick to hatch after midnight of setting your eggs? and some peeps set eggs in morning or in evening and not at noon doesnt that effect things?

Chickens will hatch over a day or three time period. It really does not matter what time you set them, the will not hatch in exactly 21 days.

I have had mixed breed hatches where the first one hatched on day 19 and the last one hatched on day 23....I was very tired....

I've been reading it to be the soonest to hatch after midnight (local time) on January 1st. Sort of like the first baby born in the new year...so it's the first chick of 2015.
