I've been reading it to be the soonest to hatch after midnight (local time) on January 1st. Sort of like the first baby born in the new year...so it's the first chick of 2015.

Holding it in my lap until my DH makes the separation for the brooder. It's pretty, a blue and yellow, which will probably be white. I have it in a paper towel, still pretty wet. Didn't want it in there playing bowling with the other eggs.

Aawwww, first hatch of this Hatch-a-long.

Congrats! Mine are taking their sweet time. They are going with the hurry up and wait mantra.

Day15/16 i candled the eggs and took out 2 muscovy eggs 1 clear 1 blood ring all the rest moved so 7 of 12. i candled chicken eggs and took out one with a blood ring, the rest that i could see into all moved so 7 of 11 chicken eggs. Chicken eggs go into lock down tomorrow.

I finally caught up on reading posts. I miss 2 days and spent three trying to catch up. Of my 16 originally set I have 11 locked down. A whole lot of shakin' going on in the bator.
