This is great! The moms are doing a good job.Went to bed early this morning (about 2am) after checking on the eggs around midnight with an EE egg pip, brown egg pip and no pip on a Silkie egg but I could hear it peeping. This morning went out to take a peak and see if there are any babies and found the two eggs with pips still peeping and starting to zip and the Silkie egg chick is out!!! LOL! Didn't expect that at all! I will check again in a few hours when it warms up outside.
You have a farm. No really, you have a farm? Where did you get all of those eggs? Where will you put all of those chicks..chickens? wow....
Love the chicks!
Don't cull it. I've had a lot like this in past yrs. Some may call me crazy, but, I just cut it off as close I can, then apply Neosporin on it. Sometimes the extra absorbs, sometimes not. Most of the time though, the chick is fine. Is it peeping and crawling/walking around? Thanks jgoldy2. I'll PM you a little later. I'm late getting to my chores and it's pouring rain (yay for drought stricken TX). Not sure if it's icing yet, so I want to get my drive to, horse feeding job done.
What does anyone think of this chick? Cull or wait? I have him in a container (which he's gotten out of, so he's pretty strong), on a damp paper towel.
#11 has hatched and #12 is working on it.
