6yr old girl needs to know if she can keep her chicken

I prepared them and continue to I just didn't want to break the news it's always heartbreaking

I can see why you're concerned by a proud looking stance. But, it's hardly conclusive and there's no sense worrying over it unless rooster feathers emerge or the comb darkens early. Right now, it's quite pale and just looks like an alert chicken.

I agree, not currently screaming cockerel yet, but must stay on the watch list for any red to appear in the comb/waddles, or even top of the wing feathers in the next couple weeks.

Some shots are heavily suspect. But you should have a good accurate answer within 2 or 3 weeks. Hope it's a girl! :fl
 
Yeah its head and gels are getting redder everyday. If we have to I found a friend that can take him until we can get a bigger place but that leaves me with one chicken will it be okay by itself while I get another chick to raise? I know they're supposed to be at least two chickens so they can socialize. And this all depends on in a couple weeks if it really does turn out to be a rooster.
