$7.99 for watermelon!

I went to the veggie stand to get the (girls) and grandkids a watermelon and it was 7.99!!!
How much are they in your area?

They were the regular oblong seeded watermelons. Not a special kind, lb wise 10-15 hard to say I didn't pick one up just turned around and walked out.

A good sale price for a SMALL seedless is $3.99 but the big ones run about $7.99. Craziness.

The pricier grocery/supermarket here sells the big round ones for $7.99 but the cheapest supermarket a couple miles away is selling them for $4.99. They also have a "personal size" small round watermelon for $2.99. I think all of the melons are coming from California and Mexico. I'd think the supermarkets in the Southern states would be selling them cheaper because they don't have to get shipped as great a distance as to up here in the Northeast. Hard to believe they're getting 10 bucks for a melon in Louisiana!!

$8.99 here in northeast Michigan. I didn't buy one, I did buy a small round one for $4. Probably too early to be very good though. Here's hoping I'm wrong.

$2 or $3 out of the field... Around $5 if you get one at the stand. Lots of melon fields on Sand Mountain...
