I purchased 18 silkie hatching eggs. Put 22 in the incubator (The 18 I purchased and 4 from my coo) we are now 7 days until hatch day! With -4 VERY active babies!! 🙌 These babies have caused me so much stress!
Most of the shipped eggs had saddle bag air sacs on day 7. I immediately transferred them to a styrofoam egg carton. pointy side down of course…
My questions are this…
Are styrofoam egg cartons ok to hatch from?
When should I put the silkie eggs on lock down?
Would they do better hatching in the cartons or remove them before lockdown and place them on their side?
(Incubator is the nurture rite 360)

When you start lockdown remove the cartons. Candle every egg and see that there developing and alive. For chicks to zip they need to be a able to move the egg in the right position.

Thank you! Would lock down day be the same for these silkies? Day 19 is always my go to with eggs from my coop.

If there bantam eggs lockdown at day 16 or 17, for large fowl eggs it's day 18.
They are all silkies… I’m pretty sure none are standard. All I know is the breeder has BEAUTIFUL hens and roosters

Lockdown requires you to monitor humidity levels must stay at 65% during the duration.
I have maintained 65-70 with my first 3 hatches. I’m just concerned knowing these are eggs I paid for to hatch lol!

Day 19 is not practical because during lockdown phase they need to find there position while there still growing.
