Experienced chicken keeper needed – rehoming flock (Evans, GA). I have 7 chickens that I need to rehome. I have had chickens for 10 months and new at this. I recently brought home three 4 mos old RIR pullets 18-20 weeks old and about to lay. Three days later my 6 girls were laying around and not eating. I began to notice eye drainage, swollen eyes, and drainage down the beak. It has been 13 days and 2 of my ladies have died. The 3 new ones are full of energy and not sick at all. The last lady that passed was breathing funny for at least a day, maybe 2. The older ones lay around and not sure if they are eating or drinking unless they move when I am not checking on them but a couple stayed in the same spot today. From what I have learned it seems like it may be MG. I realize others don't mind this in their flock as they can build immunity to it but it bothers me too much that I have lost 2. I am new at this so I guess more emotional. This has all been too hard emotionally and I feel bad bringing home new chickens to my small flock that was doing wonderful and laying beautifully beforehand.

* I have 3 Rhode Island Reds, three 10 mos old hens (Sapphire Gem, Golden Comet, Easter Egger), one 1 year old Barred Plymouth Rock

Just keep your flock where it is. Not good to send sick chickens to someone else flock. If those sick chickens recover,, then that is what was meant to happen.
I realize this is not giving you much comfort,,, but you will get thru it. :hugs
Just bury your pets,, and enjoy the good memory.❤️

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and:welcome
