I purchased a red sex-link pullet on May 1. I was told she was about 18 weeks old at that time which would make her about 27 weeks old now. I've saw a noticable change in her body shape about three weeks ago. Her body and the space between her leg got much wider. But, she still hasn't layed any eggs.
She had a clear discharge from her nostrils and a bit of a cough or sneeze about a month ago. I treated her with Duramycin-10 antibiotics and Durvet vitamins and electrolytes for two weeks and she looks and acts healthy now.
She is also still very skittish around the rest of the flock. I have 1 rooster, 3 other hens, and 2 chicks about 7 weeks old. There are kept in a chicken tractor, about 6' x 8', during the day, but I let them out to free range for a couple of hours in the evening. The other birds don't really seem to bother her, but she runs every time one of them looks at her.
I'd like for her to feel more at ease with the other chickens and I'd like for her to start laying eggs. Does any one have any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks, Goshen
