7 week old buff laced Polish genders

Update: 9.5 weeks old now. Still no wattle growth or comb growth or color there… but the pointy tail feathers and the looser crest feathers still make me a teeny bit unsure of Thing 2. Most days I say I think both are pullets, but today, I second guessed that. None of my eight young birds act like males (no crowing or chest bumping or squaring off, etc). They are all between 9.5 & 10.5 weeks old, so maybe another month & I’ll know for sure.
:wee
But maybe not since one is a Silkie!

Pics up next… I forgot to label the pics with their names!

Feathering out (slightly less uniform on T2):

Poofs & eyes: T2's crest is much less put together... I think it even reminds me of my White Crested Black's crest at this age... he was a cockerel... (Also, I can’t see T1’s eyes, but I can see T2’s—I know, probably not an accurate way to tell gender, but it is a common theme I notice on Polish & Silkie):

And also, I’ll attach more of just Thing 2, for those that may want to look some more.

Yes, ours were pullets!
I hope yours is too. It doesn’t look like either gender yet to me! 😆
(The other little one in pic 2 looks like a cockerel though, but I’m sure you see that too.)
Thank you so much for replying!!! I appreciate it.

Yeah, we’re hoping that the other one is a different breed of pullet (Amberlink or Leghorn). Originally they told me they were both female GSL’s 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m obviously new to all things chicken & trusted my local feed store. Thankfully we have a friend who can take them if they are roos, but I am very attached & hoping they’re not.

(White wing is the prob cockerel we named Moo & reddish brown is Polish we named Meep, both supposedly at 3 days old.)

I’ve had pullets with pink combs/red wattles very early on—at 5 or 6 weeks, and thought for sure they were boys, so it’s a wait & see, especially with hatchery/feed store chicks. I once picked 6 boys out of 7 straight runs… but two years later I picked out 5 girls of 5 straight runs, so maybe I’m getting better… or maybe it’s all just luck of the draw! Good luck 🍀 and welcome to Backyard Chickens!!
