I try to stay away from cold hardy birds because it’s hot here most of the year than it is cold.

If you ever think to add to your flock Leghorns are good for hot climates.
This may sound silly but does it help to put sand down on the floor of the coop? Our coop is fully shaded under a tree, I wonder if the sand would stay generally cool in there and help them to cool their bodies down when it gets hot? We are planning on putting some sand in our run too which is also shaded under trees. It’s not an issue during the day since they aren’t actually in the coop, I just worry about night when we lock them all up for safe keeping....
