7 Year Badge- Nifty?

Some GREAT news!

We've got the badge created and finally got the data export to be able to start applying these!

Please keep in mind a few things about our year / anniversary badges:

1. Awarding these is a VERY manual process. We have to do them one at a time.
2. We have to get an export of all the users, when they signed up, etc.
3. Since there can be thousands of potential awardees each month we focus our efforts on the most active members. So, in cases where you're almost at your anniversary, if you haven't posted in over a month, there's a chance you may not be awarded this go-around. If that happens, you can always message a moderator and they can award you.
4. Since it is such a big process, we usually do awards quarterly, so depending on your anniversary, you may get an award a few weeks early or a few weeks late.
5. We're working to try to get the process more automated, but until that happens we appreciate your patience and support!

Fabulous! My 7 year anniversary for the revitalized BYC was Feb. 3, my DH's b'day, though I've been a member since 2005.

I wasn't sure who the heck this Nifty person was, wasn't sure what the deal was with the revival of the original. Honestly, I don't even remember all that stuff from way back. "speckledhen" wasn't even my original screen name on that old site. I had another one, then I cancelled my account (you could do that back then on the other system), then I came back and changed my screen name to speckledhen. Then, Nifty revived the original BYC and since friends were going over, I did, too.

You are correct, it was not Nifty back then. I wasn't sure what was happening so I was cautious in moving over. Obviously, it turned out very well!

Thanks, Sue. We are expecting quite a big one tonight into tomorrow, as much as 10", if you can believe these forecasters. It's been a tough winter as far as single digit temps for long periods and very windy and now, more snow than we usually get on top of that. My birds aren't used to spending so much time inside.

ETA: Strange to think that some of us are actually longer time members than our join dates would indicate.

I waited quite a while to move over as well. I was quite cozy on the old BYC! I don't even know what year I joined BYC originally. I was 11 I think when I first joined to ask about frost bite on my rooster. It was the first message forum I had ever joined and I remember being nervous because it was talking to people online who I had never met in person. I was surprised my parents were so approving! Now I'm 25 and in my first year of vet school! But BYC has been with me this whole crazy journey!

Yep, I changed my name when I moved over too! I remember how cautious everyone was. There was only just a handful of folks on here 7 years ago. Things didn't move nearly as fast back then. Keeping up now, is a full time job...if it is even possible?

I agree that it's hands down the best run site anywhere on the web!
