Landrace project F1 chicks!!!

I've hatched 23 chicks in total and I only have 1 make rn, It's is crazy! All the wheatens are almost 95% orange in all their plumage except for the tails, and my birchen hatch has a singular male with a red crest and wattles and he hatched only to get splayed hours later so I can't use him in my project. Idk if it's genetic and even though I fixed his leg issues idk if I should use him in my project. They're all quite friendly though!

is the surface of your brooder slippery? or somehow other chicks stepped on him? I did have splayed leg chicks but they were like that from the moment they hatched.
