7 year old suspended from school for shaping breakfast bar into "gun."

Ahhhh... THE QUESTION!

Try taking a parent to the Veterans Hospital... That question is asked there too. Another way the federal government is finding out who has guns... Big brother is ALWAYS watching!
I suppose if the question had been asked by someone of authority, I may feel differently about it, my local primary school...not so much. Are you able to decline answering at the VH?

Exactly. What bearing whether there are guns in my home have to do with why my child has an ear infection or is getting a D in English?

Once a year at the doctors office they ask me all the routine questions,do you smoke, do drugs,drink. OK these pertain to your health. Are there guns in the home, always tell them it is none of your business. Which is kind of a defacto "yes" but they get the point. Would you like to know what type of truck I drive as well? How about my favorite color?

Sorry, but that first part is incorrect, The 5th Amendment to the Constitution states in part, "nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself,"

As to the second part, you got that right! From the Declaration of Independence, "That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government..."

No one has authority over you without your consent, a fact which I take great pleasure in pointing out, particularly to petty bureaucrats and other government functionaries with the phrase, "YOU ARE THE ONE SUCKING AT THE PUBLIC TROUGH AND I AM THE ONE FILLING IT! YOU don't ask the questions. I ask the questions and you give the answers..."

Yes, I do deliver this oration in a LOUD clear voice so that all in the vicinity are sure to hear it. I have one other phrase that is reserved for elected officials who have forgotten their place the grand scheme of things; "You were hired to do a job for us and it's a temp' job at that." It never hurts to remind them that the ballot box is looming.

Now look what y'all have done. You've inspired me to get up early tomorrow and get in a little target practice. My PC 'just moved from the city into the country" neighbor will call 911, and the sheriff's deputy will come out, say he has had a report of gunfire and I'll tell him I'm just getting in a little target practice. He'll say, "Well as long as everything is okay and you aren't shooting toward the road... I'll go explain to him."

Teachers and other school administrators often ask students and parents poignant questions to formulate or confirm an opinion of a childs homelife or parents ability to parent or some other reason they seem fit to want to know about. My son was asked once by the principal if we hunted because of some pictures he drew and she suggested it in a way that she was concerned he may do something wrong. I did not fault her but realised she was doing what she had been trained to do and knew nothing about my son or the role hunting plays in the heritage of my family.

If your child or mine behaves badly in school there is always a person there that is quick to blame the parent or the child's homelife. They usually never look to the fact that in the case of my son he is not allowed to act that way at home and the fact that he has figured out he CAN act that way in school. Funny thing is when I threatened to come to his school and sit in his classroom for the day he acts much better... hmm...
 
I think kids are just going to screw up sometimes. It's a part of growing up. It's how we learn. I don't know very many perfect kids, even those that come from the best of home lives. I expect my kid to make some mistakes. He's made a few this year, nothing that shocked me. I've been much more surprised at how the school handles things. And then there's the posturing of the parents...oh brother. Just the culture anymore...
 
How ridiculous he has adhd. He said he was not trying to make a gun. Atleast no one was hurt.

I have ADHD, and it often affects most who have it negatively. Everyone at school believes i act too childish to be in highschool. I often fidget and tap my desk, and will make random noises. I hate it and i am constantly made fun of for it. Thats why i finally submitted to taking my stupid pill that calms me.
