Sounds like runners to me... @TJChickens has runners, I think... might be able to show you a pic to compare?

Research ducks before you decide to get them... it's best to get ones that suit you well... I adore Calls, but they are a bantam duck, fly extremely well and are a much easier target for predators than the larger ducks... plus hatching those is harder too, lol...

A bit behind the curve here, but here's pictures of my Runners.....

My final chick made it out after getting assistance. Looks weak - but I guess that's to be expected with the required assistance.

I chatted with my husband - and he too missed the ventilator plug for ventilation! We read/studied a bunch and missed it completely - I hope to do another hatch when my dark-egg laying hens stop molting. Hopeful for better success next time!

I knew it was you that had Runners! :gig Are they fliers or no? I haven't looked into those, lol... @Pensmaster do those ducks look kinda like these?
Fantastic!! What are you going to do with all those ducks? :ya
If my OH has his way, keep them all! lol... We'll grow them out then evaluate them and sell some... got many around us that want Calls... :)

I have leave both plugs in my incubator, often- for the entire hatch, and have still had good hatch rates. I sometimes have to leave them in to keep the humidity in check, especially this time of the year. We heat with a wood stove, and its very dry in my house right now. I left both plugs in this entire hatch. 15 made it lockdown and 14 hatched. I do have my incubator I use for hatching elevated though (its got a milk cap under each corner) so the bottom vent holes aren't obstructed...
