Ron,

Thanks for doing the HAL is was fun and I learned a lot. I afraid nothing got done around here for the past 3 weeks but that's okay

One more question is the chick considered in trouble if the membrane has pulled away from the shell. On one I opened the top of after waiting a day after pip had separated from the shell enough to run a q tip with Bacitracin onto the membrane. It did keep it moist and it did finish piping under the top area I chipped off. Just want to make sure I get that right.
Yes, I usually use water to moisten the membrane--If it is too big, it will dry out and you will have to peel the chick out. The important thing is to make sure it can breath and then wait for the blood vessels to dry out. They can either aspirate the blood and drown on it or bleed to death if too much blood is lost.

I found one that lost or did not have an egg tooth. It had internally pipped but could not zip. I got it out this morning and it is now with the others, so I hatch 33 chicks and they are all doing fine so far!
