7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

Do you mean the Lyon incubator or the R-com? Both are pretty good. It's the first time I've used this old Lyon. You can't turn the eggs as gently as the R-com. And taking the humidity down would be similar to getting it down in a styro-bator. It keeps a very steady temp though. R-com is very quiet. Lyon isn't very noisy either.

I was thinking of getting a Lyon, but now the R-com sounds better, thanks!

Having digitally controlled humidity is spoiling me for sure! I do double check the temp with a spot check though. But once set, everything is automatic!

However, if anything goes wrong with the Lyon, you can get parts easily. I think with the R-com it may be more difficult to get fixed.....

My eggs are on day 14 today (put htem in a week early so that they wouldn't be too old to develop).  They were doing great, and then my incubator went gazoo and was up to 111 degrees!!!!!!!!!  :barnie Opened the top and double checked all of the settings-got it cooled down (my x10 controller was unplugged so the computer wasn't controlling it anymore:he .)  I suddenly became grateful I had put 4 eggs under my broody hen last week...at least SOMETHING should hatch.  Haven't given up on the incubator yet-will candle again on day 18 and see if I see movement.:fl Boo on fluctuating temperatures!

I had a power outage during the summer and put my incubator outside, since we were supposed to get to 90° that day... The incubator turned into a greenhouse and got up past the max on my mercury reader (120°+). I still hatched 5 out of 11. 4/5 were male...they survive higher temps in incubation better.
