7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

Go pigeon go. Hope you get the color you want.
Weird I never thought I'd be cheering on a pigeon. Here they cause a lot of damage on our roofs due to their droppings damming up the flashing and causing water to enter house. Flying rats we call them. Sorry. Go pigeon go.

LOL I used to let them free fly... my dad said I had to stop cause they were pooping on the roof. Now they just stay in their pen and everyone is happy (even them, they are scared of coming out of their pen cause a hawk has been hanging around).

This is the female who is sitting on the egg, her mate is in the background standing on their nest spot. I'll tell them you are cheering them on.

If lockdown is tomorrow do I stop turning them at noon? Or does it even matter

You can lock them down when it works best for you.

I will be waiting until day 19 for mine. That seems to work best for my setup. I move them from the Brinsea to one of the Genesis 1588 incubators.

We live 1/4 mile from where the Ellis county Texas tornado hit. The damage is insane, we spent almost 24 hours with no power. Thank goodness my eggs only went about 6 hours without power, though I am still unsure how many made it that long. I will candle them later today. I hope everyone out there is safe and warm today and over the next few days as this weather passes.

Wow, glad there are hardly any tornadoes where we live. Hope your eggs are ok.

If word gets out at work that I'm cheering on a pigeon I might get fired.

They are pretty though.

I really hope they both hatch for you! :fl  :fl  You might want to put out some feelers, though, to find another chick or 2 in case only one hatches. A lonely chick is a needy chick.

I have one already in the brooder from my last hatch. He's 3 weeks old so I'm hoping they will go well together. My last hatch which was my first only 1 made it out of 7 eggs. Not to sure what's going on and what is happening for them all to be quitters. Hopefully after this things start turning around or I won't do it again.
