7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

X 2 It's amazing to hear and see everyone hatching!! It's cuteness overload with all these babies!:jumpy :jumpy :jumpy It's also sad to hear of the babies lost. I had nothing going on...and now there's 3 pips when I went to turn the new eggs! I'm still hoping things progress well and that I turned things around from the last hatch.:fl The top middle, small white egg (hard to see), the top left blue egg and the second from the left tan egg on the bottom row have pipped.
PIP-PIP HOORAY! I just checked mine and I've got two pips!:weee :yiipchick :yiipchick

Oh Yeh...
And I'll not be shutting down the bator anytime soon!!
I have been collecting the past 9 days.........

How weird - I sent the pic to my husband (he's in St Louis but safe from the floods) - and he had to send it to me so I could upload it here! I've never seen anything like this before! Should be interesting to watch grow up! And I've learned (well, re-enforced previous learning) tonight... crack open a bottle of wine and things start to happen!
Ok now I've got to get mine open. Maybe things will get cracking. Naked neck on the chick correct. Looks like good quality from what I can see no bow tie yeah

WOW - that was FAST! Didn't start unzipping until about 830pm- out of shell about 845pm. It was a traded egg - I have no idea what the mom was, but the dad appears to be a Turken! (I know the woman I got them from had a Turken rooster)

Congratulations!

7 out, 8 pips, the rest are unknown.
That is great!

Your x marks seem to have missed the pips...They did pip in a good spot though!

I need to go check--chick # 5 was zipping and judging by the chirping, it is likely out.

I may need to wear ear plugs tonight!

(they are hatching on the bathroom sink)

I am pretty sure it is a mixed breed. The woman I got it from had a naked neck rooster but no naked neck hens. She had silver laced wyandottes, brahmas, orpingtons, easter eggers and a marans variety perhaps among others. She had a few roosters too. They all free range together (just like my flock). The hatch will be a complete surprise. Two of her eggs were infertile. I have 3 blue/green THICK eggs incubating along with one darker egg and several browns. This came from a light brown/pinkish shell.

It will be interesting to see if the rest of the babies have naked necks (?dominant rooster) or if any of the other roos' got action. I am assuming (and could very well be wrong) that the naked neck is a dominant feature?
