7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

Well everyone, my hatch is complete. Here are my results:
I started with 17, 2 quit within the first week.
15 eggs made it to lockdown, 14 hatched. 1 DIS. I opened the DIS egg very carefully just to be sure. That poor little chick had internally pipped, but just couldn't manage the external pip, though it was perfectly positioned inside the egg. Oh well, I guess some just aren't meant to be.

Very pleased with this hatch, now on to the next!

I have one that had pipped into the air sac as well, positioned properly and everything but it just didn't make it.

Got a total of 6 New Year's baby chicks! Jan 1, 2016
"Eve" hatched right after 12am (midnight)
2nd chick hatched at 4 am
3rd/4th chick hatched at 11 am
5th/6th chick hatched at 11:30 am

Congrats to everyone else with Chickeis!!


I have 7 chicks!! All 7 HAL chicks hatched.

I still have 2 from the 12/26 hatch in the "bator, I candled them last night. they both have movement, but no chirping, so I might crack them today to see what is going on.

I have 6 that I slipped into the bator a couple days after the 11th, 2 of those were clear, but one of those pipped last night.

I have 12 that I set on 12/26. They looked good at day 7.
