7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

1 penedesenca chick hatched. 9 more pipping/zipping
Bonus, you have chickens!!!

Me too right now some other equipment is broken here and I need to get it going. Argh. Never ends.
I started my winter water project over 2 years ago. I'm still working on it today.
That said, providing warm circulated water in all conditions to up to 9 flocks of chickens is no small engineering task.
It will save me a tremendous amount of time though.
While I'm finishing this, my trap nesting build is on temporary hold.

I am the worlds greatest procrastinator

I truly doubt that.
You haven't seen me in inaction.

3 have hatched.
All happy and healthy. These penedesencas are super cool looking chicks.
Thanks again Guy.

That sounds like a two year project to me

He's a bit different than I imagined...but very cool! I can see why the pigeons would be "what the heck??" if it was a chick...lol.
LOL yeah they got very confused last summer when I stuck quail eggs under them and they hatched

yeah they are kinda interesting looking. But their little squeeky noises are so cute... until they are 2 weeks old, then they get REALLY loud begging for food.

Sierra Nevada Torpedo is my fav drink. They make several excellent beers. Try hop hash if u can ever find it. Beer camp is also a great ipa

Sierra Nevada did a hop harvest (I think that's what it was called) with the Neomexicanus hops and it was fabulous! If you get a chance you should try it :)

Staying on task here what type of ducks are they? Lucky to have such a dog. Mine weren't so nice but they learned. I like the porters. Brewery here does a whiskey barrel porter style at Christmas.

Back on task...lol! They are Ancona ducklings :) I was super surprised that he was so good with them. He went to hunting school and is a trained hunter, so I thought he wouldn't be compatible with ducks. He's been great though! He knows the difference between "mine" and "his" things. The ducklings are "mine." Lol!

Lol. 4 kids staring into the bator watching chicks hatch. Feels like a the beer commercial "it doesnt get any better than this".
5 chicks out and more coming. They are excellent cheerleaders

I'm up to 8 so far. They've been popping out like crazy since last night. There's still 11 in the bator but most of the ones that were due Friday are out. There are only a couple of them left. The ones that were due today, I feel certain will be a few days late.
