7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

So everyone there would most likely think we're totally insane wearing shorts and flip flops when it warms up to -10C in the spring???

I was just wondering in comparison for the OEGBs. It's supposed to get down to -20C this weekend but warm up to -10 again by the 17th when I hatch my next batch. I think I'll keep the little OEGB guys inside depending. They're so, so tiny anyway. But the EEs will be bursting the seams by that time and we were just discussing on how it'll work to put them in the brooder in the coop. (I'll have heat in the brooder) I think as long as it doesn't get down to -40. We've been -27C here already. I didn't like that so much. Ugh.

YUP. We would swim in the Gulf when the water temperature was only 65. That's summer in the Great Lakes! Lol

We've lived everywhere from a heat index of 128' to wind chills of -82'F. I am NOT a fan of the cold! LOL.

Except the teenage boys, I don't sell those... or dogs...And the husband is free.....

:lau

I do agree on the shipping stuff... more hubs/or certain ones can wreak havoc... had some shipped within state and zero hatched and some across country hatch just fine... our Nashville hub is fine, but I know if it goes through Memphis I will be happy if a single egg hatches... :/

Just got back from @SenuaGifts farm to get Muscovey eggs. Super cool family. Awesome animals.

That's awesome, bama!! :fl good luck on your hatch!

I lived in Florida for 5 years. In Sarasota on the west coast. My ex-husband grew up in Inverness, which is central. Right now I'm living in NY and it's freezing here. Oh how I miss wearing flip flops year round!

I sold all the chicks that hatched! My first time selling chicks. And my 10 yr old son cried the whole way, while holding the box. It was so sad/cute. He's all heart. But I went into lockdown last night. So I'll be hatching again this weekend. :fl for another good hatch. How is everyone's chicks doing?

I'm just learning genetics but I have all white silkie hens and white, buff, and black cockerels and we hatched 5 black chicks and 3 partridge! No white! Interesting!

I think there is recessive white and dominant white, your white hens must be recessive white... So their babies bred back to white chickens would produce half white half some other color...
