8 eggs in the incubator

One of my broodys has baby GUINEAS!!!! I went out this morning to do chores and when I went to open the broody pens so they could stretch their legs a bit, this girl sat tight. After chores I looked in on her and saw a little pied guinea baby peeking out

. Even DH had to admit they are cute. She has 7 out and mostly dry, one egg left. The other girl with guinea eggs came out and ran around for a few minutes, no babies there yet. I'll try to get pic, momma is very sweet did not even growl, just chirped when we picked a couple up to show the Grandson. DH was afraid to put his hand in as she was nasty before, but he likes her new attitude.

Wow, I have been SO crazy busy these past few days that I totally spaced it that the eggs I have in the hatcher NOW are the batch of eggs I'm hatchin with you guys... Sorry!!!

5 early keets have already hatched out and (mostly) dried and I just moved them to the brooder, there's 3 more wet keets in the hatcher drying (looks like a Buff and 2 Pied Pearl Greys), plus I see a few pipped eggs. I think I put 39 eggs total into the hatcher when I moved them (I had some late stage quitters), but I'll have to double check that number.

Anyway, here's the 1st 5:
2 Royal Purples, a Lavender, a Pearl Grey and a Brown.

Ummm... (tapping my toe impatiently, with my arms crossed)... WHERE ARE THE PICS!?!?!

LOL, congrats, we'd love to see pics tho!

I'm sure all mine will be pearl, tho I could get Lavender. I have a couple pied , which is enough to make them different and cute so DH is warming up.

Congrats !!!!!!!!

I set 20 guinea eggs, 10 each under 2 broodys. Yesterday one of the girls had 7 keets and one egg left. The other hen jumped up and ran around for a bit while I did chores, then settled back in. I checked them at 5 this morning, to cool to expose the keets but checked the other hen still no keets but at least one pipped and the keet in another egg moving good. Really odd that they are so far apart since they both got their eggs at the same time.
I just found a tick on my leg, was running around in the pasture earlier, these guys need to grow up and start eating. The hens raising them are good foragers, Black Stars, kinda surprised me when they both went broody. When DH and I went out to candle them one night I knelt down on one knee and a scorpion crawled up to me, right there in the barn! Lucky I'm not freaked out by those things. I did kill it tho, can't have those things around the Grand kids.
I'll try to get pics of babies today.
Hey, I really like the very dark, almost black looking guineas, saw them in a pic, what color is that?
