I've been convinced that this bird was a cockerel for weeks. I'm not sure anymore.
This is my first flock, so I have no idea what I'm talking about. Any thoughts?

Roo has had a big pink comb for about 5 weeks. Roo's comb still hasn't turned red like my confirmed cockerel. (who has started crowing and watching the others while they eat). Roo seems to pick on the girls a bit, but isn't telling them where to go and when to flee.

I can't tell that Roo has any different tail or neck feathers than my other Buff Orp hen.

I'm ok with that. The new problem is that I ended up with 2 cockerels from straight run at Tractor, so I got a bunch more pullets. If I'm comparing them to Roo, I think I may have pulled three cockerels out of six all supposed to be pullets. They're all buff orp and australorp.

Looks like I may have to find new homes for some :hmm

The BO in question is a cockerel. These chicks are too young to be accurately sexed. Australorps comb up early. Post updated pics at 6 weeks.

Here's our current state. Hopefully it's not too blurry. They're fast.

100% agree with this!
Luckily I found a good home for them. I'm pretty sure both of them are. Same chickens in the pics, just moving around too much. I'll give them another week to grow before I send them off.
I'm integrating the chicks into the flock now. Should I start letting the cockerels into the roost at night with the others, or just bring them back to the brooder at night? Maybe chickens aren't as sad about losing a few as I am?
