Hello lovely chicken people! I have 9 bantam cochins, frizzle cochins, and silkies that are 8 wks old. I put them outside this past week in 40's lows and 50's highs weather in Tennessee. They seem to be doing great! However, over the next few days/week the lows will be in the low 20's to 30's withs highs still in the 40's. They have a solid coop with good roof and vents. They have pine 5-7 inches in sleeping/lounging area. I dont have a way to provide heat with electricity. Think they will be warm enough? I can bring them in the house but I dont want to shock them when putting them back out or have them struggle to readjust to "winter"(I know, its mild here :) ha!) I considered warming a stone in oven or such and putting it in/under bedding but am not sure how long it would stay warm or if it would be counterproductive somehow. Any input appreciated!!

I think it will be staying cold for a while so I'd just leave them out there now that they're acclimated to cooler temps. They're old enough and enough birds to keep each other warm - in spite of the fact that silkies and frizzles are less than extreme winter hardy.
I had young LF frizzles that did just fine in extremely cold weather.

I live in Southern Indiana and it has gotten down to 22 degree's once or twice at night and just for good measure I put a low wattage heat lamp outside above where they perch huddled together. I usually only turn it on on nights that it gets below freezing. There have a been a few nights I tried to leave it off but after checking on them and found them shivering I decided to turn it back on. Next year I'll have built larger more insulated coop for them.
