lol... really, I am so glad you are happy with them and got a great hatch... it's harder for me to tell which are blues and which are blacks from pics, but you'll definitely be able to tell when their wing feathers come in... just compare those... I've been trying to produce more splash and blacks, but I always end up with a lot of blues in the whole spectrum of shades... if I could, I would set up just a splash pen and a black pen, but right now I can't... Paints have always been my favorites, and now I can finally get some going so those are gonna take my extra space for now...

for a couple pullets out of these for my cockerel...

I love the paints as well! I can't wait to see photos!

My babies from you are also super cute. I didn't have time to get a photo, but the whitest of all the chicks is getting DARK fully black wings. Body is still super light. It's totally adorable! Definitely my favorite. Only 2 of the bluish ones are still light, the rest have darkened up. I'm having a tough time telling them from the blacks. All 11 are going strong! I also have several vaulted heads in the group!

Just for fun. I love me a Leghorn!

yesterday I found a pullet trying to push out a new age. She was squeaking and pushing and squeaking and finally... Out came a very small rubber egg. That was hard for her to do. I wonder how hard it was for this Leghorn to lay this. She's an old Pro probably didn't take much at all.

the photo doesn't show just how big it is. It looks like big duck egg.

Shell less eggs are hard for them to lay. They often get stuck and if they break, an infection can set in.

I do hope you can get some Trader Joes eggs this year!
