Had to chase off a stray rooster again yesterday. My neighbor doesn't have an official coop and so lost most of his girls. His roosters are looking for a new harem. My poor cockerel keeps getting chased into the snow. Fixed the stray's wagon yesterday, though. I sicced my chihuahua on him. He had a grand time chasing the rooster through the field back to the neighbor's house.

12 chicks hatched and in the brooder. One egg left in the incubator. Made an emergency pip into the air cell. Turns out the chick didn't develop the double bend in the neck needed to break through the shell. Also means that it can't zip itself. Been going at it slowly all evening. Got something I've never seen before.

Funny skunk-like stripes down the back of a black/barred chick. The silver partridge is really pretty, can't wait to know if it's a boy or girl.

Six for sure pullets. Only 50% sexlinking with this batch, since both boys are breeding.
