Her little vent was pasted up, she'd been stuck in that egg for so long. Poor thing is feeling much better now that her bum is cleaned up. The change was almost immediate. And she has the whole night in the brooder to recover before her siblings wake up and start running all over the place.

Ok, I finally did my photo shoot of my babies after they all fluffed up. I can't help it. I like taking photos of the babies. They don't stay babies for long.

All 14 doing well. Even the one that had to sit in a cup for a day and a half. That foot was pretty bad. It's now walking around really well. :) Actually..running around.

Looks like I have to trim someones little tush. Silkie babies..usually have to do a few.

I call this last one .. Butterball.

Cute photos Cynthia, that little Butterball is named perfectly!

Oh Butterball!

I did my day 10 candle tonight and removed a quitter. I have 2 other marans eggs that I think are quitters too, but leaving them for now. It looks like the 3rd marans egg is developing though! I'm so excited! All the other eggs look good as well and there's only one egg that seems a little slow on the air cell growth, but I've moved them around a bit so we'll see if that helps.

Also, filling the center tray, we're having to add water 2-4x/day. So, I'm going to mess with the amounts of water we add and go from there.

Sounds like a plan!

I wait until humidity gets to 25% before adding more water.

I just candled my eggs (4 Silkies and 3 Red Sex Link x Cochin from one hen). Of the Silkies, 3/4 look really good - verdict still out on the 4th (I added that one in a day later). But the other ones are not looking great. I don't know if I'm having trouble cause the eggs are darker (though I have a good candler) or what. Any idea what would cause all of one type of egg to fail? Are there pics of bad eggs online so I can have a look and make a guess? Just find it odd that all 3 from one chicken should stop developing when the others are ok.

Nothing showed?

I've been adding when it dips below 30. Not sure when the husband is choosing to add water during the day. Since I added back to the outer tray, it's up at 57 right now :/ I haven't decided if I'll just add more to the center (like 1/2 cup water) or add less to the outer tray yet. 1/3 cup to the outer tray gets it near the hatching range, so I won't be doing that again. 1/4 cup works too, but less than that hasn't really "maintained" for any length of time previously.
