Yes, the Whitings are from McMurray, and mine lay light blue eggs (not greenish-blue).  My first chicken(s) that ever laid a blue egg!  I've tried Rumpless Araucanas, True Ameraucanas, Cream Legbar, and Super Blue Egg Layers, but not one of those laid a blue egg for me. MAYBE the SBEL looked blue if tilted in the light just so, but that's about it. I love my little Whities

What's more exciting is that they lay fairly early! If memory serves me right, mine started laying just a couple weeks after my leghorns. I believe my leghorns laid at 4 1/2 months.


My Rooster was very fertile, too! Nearly all my eggs hatched, but I think all were fertile. He was not mean, and took care of all his ladies and then some he he.

Are you getting pullets only?

I've had all 3 of those breeds laying gorgeous blues... my current crop of Ameraucanas just started laying these...

I have some Blues that Dr. Whiting sent to the University of Arkansas for a Graduate student project. They were turned into Blue genetics so They are all blue, black or splash. I have seen some that look similar that come from McMurray. Mine are:

My Rooster was not any of those colors, but ALL of those colors and browns. My hens are black and blue. I have a bunch of chicks that are PB WTB's, but do not know their sex. Many look dark, but have couple that look more like what my Roo was. I wonder if THEY are Roos also. Maybe all the Roos are multi-colored vs the b/b/s for hens ??

Those are from the whites, lavs and black split pullets I hatched from the hen from Segler and the older line Shaffer cock... super excited for spring!
