Im gonna give these eggs until the 11th if I don't see nothing then Im taking them out and putting chicken eggs in if I get enough
you probably dont need the water, make sure to add heat sinks to the batorI hadn't even considered that since I don't know what hens she has LOL She has both a turken roo and an EE roo. She did hatch one of the eggs to see and she did get a naked neck, so it's possible to get one from the eggs. She shared a pic of it and looking, it does look like an EE in the background. Oh man what fun that would be!
My incubator arrived today too and so far so good. It looks like they forgot the candler and the separate thermometer/hygrometer so hopefully it won't take them too long to get those shipped out to me. Either way, they aren't going to stop me from hatching![]()
Question, I put some water in the incubator since the built in hygrometer was reading a little low. It's now boosted into the hatching range. It'll dissipate on its own, yes? Thanks!
good advice @lpyrbbyI never ever go by what the incubator readings say. Never. Anyone else?
Ipyrbby~I like to incubate in a low range, low 30's to mid 30's for humidity. Temp is the most important thing right now. Not sure what bator you got, if it's a hova by chance, like the 1588..you shouldn't have to worry about the temp..they are pretty good at keeping it where it should be if you have it set for chicken eggs.
A bator without the fan..they say 101, but I keep mine at 100..but I know my thermometer..I know what feels best when handling the eggs..and keep the temp there, has worked for me with the fan free bators.
Looks like I have a doz Call eggs... no idea if they're fertile or viable, but setting them now just for kicks...
what an awesome son!Lookee what our son brought me .. he lives 30 mins. away from Trader Joe's..went there, then an hr. drive to me. Hand delivered, what an awesome young man.
Now, while I do hope to get some to hatch, I don't want them all to hatch!! LOL... He used to work at a grocery store when younger, so he knows how to read the dates on the carton..but did ask about them, and got some that were delivered today. Yaay. This will be interesting. Will set them tomorrow afternoon.
Good Luck!!*Waves hi*
I posted yesterday about setting a few Silkie eggs to hatch after my new, very pretty, Silkie passed away. I decided to do it (one or two eggs may or may not be hers). I've put in 3 Silkie eggs and 3 Red Sex Link x Cochin (cause that's all I had).
Turned the 'bator on last night, took the eggs which were in the fridge out (yikes), turned them fat end up (double yikes - toddlers!), and popped them in a few minutes ago.
I promised myself I wouldn't hatch anything else till the Spring. Sighs.
Here's to resurrecting Rosie!
I have had 12 eggs in hova bator since the 11th of November
they are still active eggs moving showing veins
but if Saturday hits and no chicks they are going in the compost
nope, not at all, just ask @minihorse927Is it weird to travel 4 hours to pick up some BCM hatching eggs??? (Oh, I'm combining it with a visit to family, but really...)
