I have a question for you guys... I've tried using forced air incubators, but it seems like the eggs directly under the fan are cooler than the ones that are not. The rest of the eggs have a 100f temp, while the ones under are 93-95f so what the heck? I am clueless on how to fix this other than turning the fan off and using it as still air. I thought forced air would circulate same temp air throughout ALL the eggs, not just the ones away from the fan. What is your experience with forced air?
Does the forced air incubators blow down at the eggs or upwards? I don't have a purchased forced air incubator so I don't know. With my home made one, my fan's at the one end. I used tin foil and positioned it as a barrier so the air wouldn't hit the eggs under it.

Now I've changed things. I've pointed my fan upwards. I've only done a hatch or two but I think that helped and it seems better than using the foil. I still make sure to circulate the eggs within the incubator so the same eggs aren't under the fan the entire time.

What do you all use to mark your eggs? I've been using a soft leaded pencil, but it smears when I candle. Not that I'm entering any of my eggs in a fashion show, I just noticed (again) that it looks like I'm incubating dirty eggs!

I've got La Bresse, Barbezieux, Dk Brahma, Blue Orpingtons, and Black&Blue Copper Maran eggs.

Kept four roosters from last years hatch. Sure hoping for a lot of hens this year!

I have three damaged eggs, does anyone have any suggestions on how to patch them up and hatch successfully?
Wax or finger nail polish works for cracks.

Are they in the incubator?

Where did you get the La Bresse and Barbezieux eggs from?

Liquid bandaid for the cracked eggs.

move the eggs around every two or three days. Most incubators have cold and hot spots.
