8x8 Coop Building Diary!! *pictures* UPDATE on pg 7!

So do you plan on leaving the 2x4 up on the front propping up the roof for ventilation or is that not staying. I was just curios. Its looking pretty good

Yes, that is a permanent part of the structure. The open wedges on the sides are there for ventilation and will be covered with hardware cloth to keep undesirable critters from getting in.

My DH built it & now I want one. I knew he could build stuff, but I'm pretty impressed with this.

I think for a lot of us (who basically suck at building) this has been a very useful thread, and thanks for doing it!

As for Placer County, yeah, they really bite. But I love where I live since we are kinda outside the norm. We just make sure to make things look like they have been here for awhile. (Hee Hee)

There was a guy once who painted a pool on top of his workshop, just to mess with the county, it was great and made it on the radio. It took them, several trips to his house and ariel photo's to figure out what was going on, surprised they didn't fine him for that!!

Just 'member I am #3 on the list, this is #1, you're #2, I'm #3.

Simply because it IS such a good job. Farmer Lew goes great work! I can see why you are so proud of him! (Even though I did "infect" him with incubitis!)

Kalie wow, that was fast! You certainly have me re-considering building my new coop myself. Inspiration! Also, congrats on Joon's first egg. I was about to ask you what feed she's on!

All my girls are on all purpose, or grower/finisher with oyster shell suppliment

I have all ages so its easiest to feed all purpose.

She laid a second egg today! And was roosting in the new coop! She loves it!

Isn't that the best thing about a new coop, when they seem to love it.

I am pleased every night when I peak in the new one I built for Mom and see the old hen and rooster settled in.

No, you're #2. Mine is gonna have to wait about a month.
