9 days old and im certain is a cockerel!

I hatched out 4 American Bresse chicks and this one has legs much thicker than the other 3 and he also stands erect a lot more than the others. I'm 99% sure this is a cockerel. Opinions?View attachment 1226937
Behaviour is a pretty good indicator. I've had a few like that, and they were all cockerels. Sometimes you just know from day one.

I had an OEGB that was under 24 hours old start sparring with me. Boldest little fella I've ever had. He turned out to be a lovely cock that cared for his hens beautifully.

Watch the color of that comb. In another week to two weeks, if it's a cockerel, you will see it turning yellow as compared to the washed out pink of the pullets. The comb and wattles will also be growing more prominent than the pullets over the next few weeks.

By age six weeks, that yellow comb will have gone from yellow, to yellow orange to red.

Now 2.5 weeks
