We have a 9 week old Buff Orpington, is it a rooster or a hen? We’re thinking rooster? We only got one of this breed in our batch of 12 chicks so we don’t have another one to compare it to. We are also new to chickens, so we’d love to know! Thanks!

I'm guessing Roo as well! We have 9 Buff Orpingtons about the same age, and I've been asking myself the same question. I think the tail is the give away. The hen's tails have more rounded feathers, and your Roo looks like they are more pointed. Also his waddles are bigger. He is very handsome indeed!

These are my 8 week old Buff Orpingtons and I believe they are all girls. Going by that, I'd say yours looks like a roo.

Hello everyone.
We are new at this and need your help. A stray hen/rooster showed up in out front yard. It looked a bit week so we fed and gave it water. It ended up staying in our front yard and has been spending the past 5 days under my truck.

We don’t know much about the next steps.
Is it a hen or a rooster? How old is it?

google searches kinda tell us it is a Buff Orpington. Is it???

Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.
Jeff
