I'm new to this so I haven't really known what rooster saddle feathers looked like till now. My BR just started his At 11 weeks they and short skinny "baby feathers" growing from his back and they are so shiny in the sun they look like they are coated in clear plastic. It's my understanding the saddle feathers will get long but stay skinny and shiny.

Thanks for your replies everyone, especially for the photos of the "roosterish" hens on the first page - wow that polish is gorgeous! I'd gladly take more input, and as everyone says, I guess I'll know for sure when it crows or lays!

Well, One Grey, what did it turn out to be? Pullet or roo? I'm in the same situation as you with one big Easter egger out of a few---more assertive than the others too. I won't know for a while. Has yours started to lay or crow?
