Hello all, I am new to the site and to the world of chickens (and totally obsessed). I have a question about my 9 week old Mottled Cochin Bantam. I ordered all girls (and have had them since 1 day old), but this one’s comb and wattle seem to be growing faster than the other birds' and are also much more pigmented. She is the last to get all of her feathers in, still lacking her tail and neck feathers. Is this just her growing at a different pace or did I
get a cockerel??? Ive uploaded some pictures of her, I know they're all not the best, but hopefully someone can help calm my nerves. I love her, but can't have roosters in the city!
9 weeks is too early for pointed feathers to begin showing up. Redness and development of comb/wattles is making me lean towards cockerel for now. Could you update us in another few weeks just to confirm?
