it's almost completely dry already.

I don't know about my humidity as I don't have a way to tell me what it is.

DH is convinced I need to get it out now because it's flopping all over the place and bumping up the rest of the party. There are 20 other eggs in that lockdown bator. Some were rocking and rolling but have stopped. This one that just hatched wasn't moving at all until this morning and it pipped at 10:30 and hatched at 9:00 p.m.

It's peeping up a storm and driving my dog nanners!

I'll take any and all advice! Thanks.

LEAVE IT IN DO NOT OPEN THE INCUBATOR .... sorry just getting point across - it will be worse to open the bator you could hurt the other eggs - the chick will quiet down and be ok I've had one in the bator since yesterday - it will have to come out tomorrow whether the others have hatched or not - good luck with the rest of the hatching .

New chicks will flop around for a while, so don't open the bator. Especially if you have other pips! They dry pretty quick. Don't take it out until it is standing on its own. They work hard to get out of that egg and most are exhausted right after.

Its allright- in fact, everything seems like you are doing it right.

If you need to take the chick out- do it fast and put a cup of HOT water in there to keep humidity up.

As for the ones who stopped rolling around- they have settled down to absorb their yolks and will be hatching soon.

Good luck with your babies, and enjoy!!!

Actually they can live on their yolk sac for 72 hours

Don;t be in a hurry to get them out of there. It won't hurt the others to be knocked around a bit.

Sounds like you need a hygrometer. But for now I would leave the incubator closed, it sounds like you already have humidity problems, and opening the incubator now would only make it much worse. The new chick can be in there 2-3 days more, and the others will be fine, even if they are being knocked around. Next time look into hatching in an egg carton (not neccisary, but helpful), it helps keep eggs stable while the new chicks are running around. But again they will be much better off if you leave the incubator closed. If you have a way to add water without opening the incubator, you may try doing that.

I was so concerned because it was peeping up a storm and flopping around like a fish out of water. I had to stop DH from taking it out. I told him, don't open that bator! He made me in charge of research and development on this project and now I have to remind him that I have the knowledge on this.

We are very excited

about our first chick. Just concerned about the other 20.

So I should leave it in there until he's standing on his own. Yes?

I will post pics later.

Yes, and it will be fine in there for another couple days too. DO NOT open the bator if there are any other pips. You will shrink wrap them if you do. That humidity escapes FAST.

Not just until it's standing on it's own- until all of the eggs are hatched OR when no eggs are pipped

Would putting the plugs back in the LG help the humidity ya think?

I'm a little freaked.
