911!! pale/cold/weak peachick

I have vits and have zole ordered. I agree that I don't think its blackhead even though they were hatched by our turkey hen, Scarlet. We've had turkeys for three years now with no issues (knock on wood) we had never had any problems with cocci till this year either so I guess I can't rule anything out anymore. I still primarily blame the heat/damp(way more rain than usual) and humidity for most of our problems this year. Regardless of the cause its heartbreaking to lose favorite/aexpensive chicks.

Last year I lost two young peachicks that were hatched by a healthy turkey. Necropsies from UC Davis confirmed blackhead, so unless you have had necropsies done on every bird that you have lost, you cannot say that you haven't had blackhead.

FWIW, they hatched 6-23 and one was dead about ten days later.

I won't have a turkey hatch for me again, these were month old eggs and were being used just to keep the hen broody, never expected any, let alone three of four to hatch. Just fell in love with the little buggers. Ill treat with the zole as soon as I get it just in case. I had no idea that healthy turkeys could carry it without symptoms :-( on a good note I'm learning more every day.

Yeah I knew that. Chickens could carry it and not be sick. I was under the (apparently mistaken) impression that a turkey with it would be ill/show symptoms.

Many people do raise them on the ground together, many keep them off the ground until they're much older. I'm one that tried on the ground together and failed, so this year I will keep them off the ground until they are at least six months old if I decide to keep any.

Slight change in her condition...her poo is now yellow and runny. She hasn't eaten anything all day but is still taking drops of electrolyte/corrid water.
