As far as i understand ll hawks and owls are federally protected and ypu need a special permit to kill or capture any B.O.P.
They call me Annie Oakley but i doubt i could hit a hawk in mid turbo flight with a .22 while it was attacking my chicken... yes sure a shot gun but then both the chicken and the hawk will be dust lol.
Couldnt they be considered in attack mood while they are watching and getting ready to attack ?:D
Need bird shot!

I wonder if the rat shot for 22s would work?

I dont have any issues with new houses or anything. But being on 40 acres and people next door own 110 on one side and behind and the other side have 40 somthing and then just woods in front. We have so many animals!!! And just recently have alot of bear tracts -_-
No relocation of animals here lol we are all about protecting our live stock. Tooooooooooooooooooooooo MUCH money/time goes into raising and maintaining them to let anything get them. And i kinda have an obsession with my babies lol
These hawks are on my watch list they killed 3 of my favorites and original chickens in like 3 weeks...
I would not admit anything in writing, but sometimes hawks just drop dead . Maybe chicken is not a healthy diet!

Well, as much as I’ve enjoyed seeing the hawks from afar in the past, we’re going to be protecting the livestock. I love the idea of covering the run with netting, but with a quarter acre of open area for the hens, it’s just not an option.
We’ve caught foxes, raccoons, and opossum and set them free. It usually takes them a few months to reappear near the house or chicken area.
Neighbors on either side have livestock too, and they’ve also had more trouble with predators lately.
With the new development going on across the way, I think we’ll be the next critters to relocate.
The only things i relocate are snakes, so far away they are not coming back any time soon. Like 60 miles. My neighbors caught a fox when they were trying to trap a feral cat. They just let it go! I lost chickens to that fox until i quit free ranging them. They do love to be out.
