So, I started out at 35-40% humidity for the first few days, and because of weight loss measurements being too high, have increased. Over the last 24 hours it’s been at average 52% humidity and they are STILL losing too fast.

They’ll be 7 days in at 5pm on Friday and a few are within 0.01 gram of the target 1/3 weight.

Since I had to fill middle and Center reservoirs to get to 52% and because they’re losing too much, I’ve filled the outermost (largest) reservoir and will let the Center one go dry.

FWIW I would have gauged air cells to be pretty much on target but these are Serama and I think the air cell guides are less accurate with smaller eggs. Also, these eggs look very smooth, non-porous but I guess they’re thinner than average.

Ambient humidity in the room is very dry. Under 20%.

I would not go over 55% for humidity. They should be fine with the weight loss you are having

I’ve heard that successful serama breeders incubate at 60%.

I’ve got silkies in, too, and they’re closer to being on target.

It’ll be a balancing act.
Yes it is! I have hatched marns egg along with silkie eggs. Marans like low humidity and silkies like higher. I had to to with 45% humidity

her leg color is correct for EE but I do not see a beard under the chin. Does she have a pea comb?

I bet she lays a lot of eggs!
Without further adieu, the Mystery Egg Maker.
Remember this photo and the story about the olive egg?

She kicks like a mule! 1 egg a day since she invited herself into the RBSW Hotel.
Took about 12 pix but all blurry because she was flapping and freaking out. She has lived in the caged free and tree sleeping mode for 6 months or so. Tarzan Style!
