Thanks so much. I had been on their site and saw the picture but didnt notice the arrows pointing out the sexes. Darker chipmunk always = female?

Chipmunk is female, spot on head is male. Anything that is hard to tell should not be bred.

I have my first bielefeldet eggs in lockdown right now... Could someone post a picture (from top) of a male and female day old chick? I haven't been able to find any to look at. Thanks.

It's also worth noting that they feather out differently as well. So you can still sex them after they lose their newborn "fluff". That's something that can't be done with some breeds. Bielefelders are truly amazing in every way.

Just put half a dozen more Biel eggs in the incubator. These are replacement eggs from the breeder I'd purchased the "dud" eggs from. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get a better than 3% hatch rate from her eggs this time.
