I'm with familypendragon, I would let them set 24 hours. Once in the incubator, I would leave turner off for 24 hours.

I am only on my 3rd batch of hatching eggs. Yep, I'm still a rookie. I have made my share of mistakes. I do read a lot. My suggestions are based on what I have read.

Thanks. I did wait. 24 hours to the second. Here they are:

The olive eggs are Isbars. I ended up changing the preset program to 43% humidity since it's been raining here for 3 days straight and I know the humidity in the house is going to fluctuate a lot. I have the incubator on a battery backup just in case the rains cause trees to fall like they did last year.

It's going to be a long 21 days. Good thing I have day old Styrian chicks in the brooder to keep me occupied.

This is a new incubator, so let's hope it works. I know it is risky putting all my eggs in one basket (so to speak). But I have all fingers and toes crossed.

Fingers crossed for you. I do have one problem...if all of mine hatch, I am going to have to build another coop. I couldn't possibly sell them.

Oh look, there's another auction for Bielefelders on RBA. Definitely going to have to build another coop now. But 5 is the limit. I must stick to that number.

My greenfire beauties are close to laying. my oldest hen has been nesting for several days. i am going to be so excited to hatch out their babies!

Those that have older ones, at what age did they start laying? I am trying to figure out an average laying age.
