A Bielefelder Thread !

Hatching eggs are delayed...stupid winter!

It was 11 degrees this morning when I went out to collect eggs. Every egg is freezing faster than I can collect them. This winter has been really harsh on all of us chicken keepers.

Hi there, DCchicken!
When the weather warms up will you be selling hatching eggs or chicks? I am in Virginia and would much rather pick up if at all possible, rather than ship anything.
I have been admiring this breed for a while now.
Thanks!

You almost have to be there to catch the egg as it comes out!

Yep, hard times for us all, all over North America.

Patience everybody!

I tried that but one of the Bresse roos chased me away from the coop when I reach down under his hen to collect the eggs. Clearly an over-protective father.

Update to clarify: The Bielefelder roos are not aggressive. My American Bresse are the protective ones. The Bielefelders are gentle giants.

Hi! Just found this thread dedicated to my new favorite breed! We love our little flock. They are just the easiest to get along with of any chickens!

They lay so well and are really beautiful. I haven't found a complaint yet!

I just have to get me some. They are so pretty and from what I have read great producers too.

They are very good producers- about 5 eggs a week. The eggs have a really nice sheen to them. This is my favorite breed I've had so far, and really looking forward to seeing them in the standards book one day!

.

BTW- up here in the Puget Sound, we've missed all of your weather, then today, a few sprinkles of snow in honor of you on the eastern side of the US!
