A Bielefelder Thread !

Yup, kinda look like that..., but not that small...maybe those are just young birds though...My females did come out (as F-1) as auto sexing, like a Silver Cuckoo does, with males (in F-1) as Silver Cuckoo but with golden hackle (like a golden Cuckoo, the Biel and Silver Cuckoo Marans both double barred males) the idea (recipe) is to discard the silver or dark males, and keep the gold-silver (impur) males and rebreed them back to their mothers (in this case the Biels) in the case of Golden Cuckoo, we'd be using Silver Cuckoo marans and Black Copper marans (to supply the gold)

In my case I used Biels to supply the gold.
I really have no energy to keep the recipe going through 4 generations.
I figured after following the recipe through, I'd have Bielefelders...LOL

But I'll look into it further !

Yes, 50 Euros for a roo and four girls in silver. As I said money is not the biggest problem.

Awesome! Keep us posted and we can figure out for sure who will help cover importing costs.

are you still at the f1 cross or working on f2 or more already?

We (husband, son and I) stripped the chicken pens this weekend. Bad news is one of my cockerels decided to attack my husband while we were moving them. And the girls stopped laying again. I have 8 of their eggs in the incubator but I haven't had a egg in almost a week. I kind of miss the Ameraucanas at this point.

What part of Canada are you all referring to? Which ones are in Canada? I live about 20 minutes from the Canadian border on the west coast (British Columbia).
I was going to answer but Saris beat me to it. Just wondering where their stock comes from.

I don't think the birds are the big expense. It's the testing, vets, quarantine, application fees that are what's expensive.

I'm so sad! My latest Greenfire order is lost! It was supposed to be here (CA) this afternoon and it's last known origin was last night leaving FL!
