A Bielefelder Thread !

All of my Bielefelder hens and pullets are the color of the one on the bottom. So I have never tried to breed for a darker color. I do have two young roosters one is darker the other lighter. If I were you I would try and breed to a Rooster with darker base tones. They are not as common; most Biele roos have a silver/gray base when young and as they mature all the other colors come in and they develop the Crele pattern. I think that would be your best chances and this is only a guess. You would actually need to see what color hens the rooster you breed too produces to be exact.
Thanks TN, I will have to wait and see then.

My bieles have changed mentally, they used to be terrified of rain, now they wont stay out of it. With all the flooding and and heavy rain going on, they stayed out all day in it, of course i left the coop door open so they could get inside, but nope. They look horrible wet, like a cat after a bath. There was about an inch of water in some places and they were scratching in it, lol. I hope it isn't bad for their health to be out in such weather, but they really like to be out.

LOL! My Biels LOVE to stand out in the rain and get soaked to the bone. And THEN they want me to hold them and snuggle with them. LOL! The should be fine. Mine were wet half the summer and are still super healthy.

I'm glad to see that, as long as they're happy and healthy. Still though, I can't help but lol at them sometimes.

I know! They look so pathetic standing there with their feathers drooping down!

My biele boy is having a minor molt and some of his new tail feathers have small greenish colored shiny spots on them, is that normal? I hadn't noticed any molting until after all the rain, maybe its because he got such a long shower. He didn't look nearly as wet as DesertChic's biele though, lol, that poor thing.

The green spots are not normal for Bielefelders. They may disappear after he fully feathers??
