A Bielefelder Thread !

@UberchicRanch I am so sorry for your loss, Huntress was beautiful. My two Bielefelder hens are very empathetic. They would sit with me after my foot surgery - It made the inability to walk a much happier experience. They always came to check on me and hang out. The Wyandottes showed up but as soon as the treats were gone, they skedaddled.

.

It sounds like Huntress had a good friend in Birchie. Huntress cannot be replaced, but perhaps another Biele hen may carry on in her tradition.

@Coop de Grass - that's amazing!! Thank you for sharing your story!!! I've been amazed by the level of their compassion. We have some eggs in the incubator and hope we might find one with Huntress characteristics - which would mean Huntress II !!!

I have a Biele hen and a roo that hatched 10 weeks ago. It will be a long wait for eggs, but it will be worth it. The cockerel, Kaiser, as in Kaiser roll, is friendlier that the pullet, named Apfel Strudel!

Hope you get Huntress II! How long do you have until the hatch?

Collin is trying to decipher the german into English.

One of my Biel hens took ill last night and remains so this morning. My brain has been going full-speed all night trying to figure out what's wrong. Right now I'm thinking it's either a sour crop, or she's egg bound, as this girls has always had some issues with laying eggs. I'm gearing up to check for sour crop, but if that's not it.....

Right now I'm just really grateful for two new Biel chicks and two NN/Biel chicks, three of which are pullets.
